Guess Who

A bunch of portraits and self portraits..Carlos draws himself with chopsticks, does three caricatures of Justin, and draws himself as a hitman...Justin draws Carlos squinting in the sun and Dan 'The Caricature King' Springer draws Justin, while never looking at the page...plus a bonus round headed guy! And a new addition - Dan draws Carlos!

Heroes...and Villians

Here's a sampling of some of the superhero and supervillian drawings that have made their way into our various lunchtime sketchbooks over the last couple of years. The Batman at top was first showcased in it's final colored form last year on Rob's Pencil Box Zoo blog; it's nice to to see it here in all it's black and white glory. The rest of the rundown: Spidey was penciled by Carlos and inked by Justin as was the Iron man pic. Rob contributes solo pencils with a nice Wonder Woman head sketch and Carlos and Justin provide a Penguin and Joker duet, respectively. Rob chimes in again with a super-sweet straight-jacketed Joker. Finally, two pieces that predate the Lunch Time Special, but were in the same sketchbook as a bunch of these - Rob's beefed up take on Underdog and a surprise guest! Good 'ol JESSE HERNANDEZ makes a welcome and unexpected venture into blogging territory with his very cool 2004 version of Hellboy!

The Ladies of Star Wars

We're sorta breaking our own unwritten rules here. These drawings weren't technically done during lunch, but they are some of the first collaborations between Justin and Carlos to make it into a sketchbook and are the first drawings in the sketchbook that a good amount of the drawings to follow come from.

We're going back now almost three years; this series was begun way back in 2005. All the pencils are by Carlos and the inks are by Justin.

All You Can Eat Buffet

Welcome To the Lunch Time Special! This new blog is going to showcase the art that our lunch time crew - Justin Leiter, Carlos Vega and Rob Kramer - have done in our various sketchbooks when we meet up for lunch. A good portion of the pieces are jams - one of us will get it started and the rest add to it, usually with fairly silly results. There will also be a good number of solo drawings. We'll try and give credit where credit is due when appropriate.

We'll be adding new art to the page as time goes on, but first we're going to post a slew of the drawings that we've done over the last couple of years. And there's a lot of drawings! One or two might have shown up on our various blogs at one time or another, so there could be a double post here or there, but for the most part it's all going to be previously unseen art. Amidst the drawings from us three muskateers there might be a few cameos as well from friends that have joined us at lunch at one time or another. It should be fun!

First up here is 'The Colonel', drawn at the now defunct Food Court in the Manhattan Mall one afternoon in August 2007. Rob got this one started by drawing the face and I believe the cord coming out of the back of his head, Carlos added the body and colors (later on at work) and Justin inked it! Hope you dig.
